Números ordinales en inglés del 1 al 100
Los números ordinales en inglés indican la posición de algo dentro de una serie (fourth, twentieth), mientras que los cardinales sólo expresan cantidad (four, twenty). Casi siempre se forman agregando -th al número: seventh, tenth, hundredth. Las excepciones son pocas: first, second y third tienen nombre propio, y unos cuantos cambian al recibir la terminación, como fifth, eighth, ninth y twelfth.

Cómo se forman
- A la mayoría se le agrega -th: fourth, sixth, seventh, eleventh, thirteenth, hundredth, thousandth.
- En los compuestos sólo cambia la última palabra, así que first, second y third vuelven a aparecer: twenty-first, thirty-second, forty-third. Para el 101, en Estados Unidos se dice one hundred first y en el Reino Unido, one hundred and first.
- Cuatro cambian al agregar -th: five se convierte en fifth, twelve en twelfth, eight en eighth (con una sola t) y nine en ninth (sin e).
- Las decenas cambian la y final por ie: twentieth, thirtieth, fortieth, ninetieth.
Abreviaturas: 1st, 2nd, 3rd y 4th
Escribe la cifra y las dos últimas letras del ordinal: 1st (first), 2nd (second), 3rd (third), 4th (fourth). Del 4 al 20 todos llevan th, y desde el 21 se repite el patrón según la última cifra: 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th.
Los que terminan en 11, 12 y 13 llevan th porque se dicen eleventh, twelfth y thirteenth: 11th, 12th, 13th, 111th, 112th. No se escribe 11st ni 12nd.
Los ordinales en las fechas
En Estados Unidos el mes va primero: September 23, 2026, que se lee con el día como ordinal, September twenty-third. Con números es 9/23/2026, así que 3/4/2026 es el 4 de marzo, no el 3 de abril.
En el Reino Unido el día va primero, como en México: 23 September 2026, y se dice the twenty-third of September.
